Hand Sewing
Construction
Hand sewing stitches practised and used for the construction of garments. Stitches shown here include back stitch, slip stitch, prick stitch, herringbone stitch and whip stitch.
I’ve used hand sewing to work with many different materials, from fine silks to silicone.
Details
A selection of hand sewn details such as swing catch stitches and hooks and eyes.
Shaping and Backing
Flat tacking used to secure backing materials like domette to fine fabrics such as silk.
Pad stitching used both in tailoring and other making projects to add shaping to fabric, or to strengthen materials.
